Childhood

And this is one of the places of my childhood :

a medieval "Borgo" full of beautiful buildings of the past including a wonderful baroque church and a medieval cloister where I looked for refuge from the world and sat for hours reading or contemplating the beauty and the peace surrounding me..

This is a lovely mixed media picture with lace and lots of collage.

It's about the feeling of contentement and joy of being "at home".

Everyone has a different concept of being at home, be it an internal well being state or a physical place to be in. For me it's both. And in those rare moments of being in the moment and in the place, I feel connected to my inner source of joy.

In the fairy garden

This is a lovely mixed media on wood with lots of 3d decorations including lace and paper.

I cut the image here and you can't see the entire piece (I always have to do this to get prints possible).

It's inspired by the presence of Fairies and is part of the "childhood series".

I love it because it's heavily mixed media on recycled wood with many layers and interesting bits showing trough....I have a different version of this picture that I have created digitally ...really I had a lot of fun! here it is, and it looks more like the original than the other picture.

I love the vintage feel of the collage and the glow of the light...truly fairy-like.

Sea love

I love this mixed media work on wood....I did it about 2 months ago but as all the art I'll be posting today, I didn't have time to do it before....(I'm working a lot on fairy houses at the moment).

The call of the sea, its energy and power is what I recall from living by it when I was little even if I didn't like going at the beach, the heat and everything that everyone was doing at the time...I just went to bathe and play in the water, dry on the rocks and be back in the water again!

This painting is one of the last batch of mixed media inspired by my inner child and the conection with pleasant feelings of the time, in an attempt to heal what was the lost of it all...

La Primavera - Spring

The light is changing, the air is lighter, little birds start to sing in the early morning...

Spring is preparing her way slowly and gracefully...

here she is, with her sun colored hair and the sweet face  of  rebirth .
Ancient memories of love, nature and belonging embrace me 

 while Spring, sweet and worm, gentle and light, comes again with a dancing step and a fresh smile...

I was listening to my own music while I was painting.

The sea has a special meaning ...deep feelings, the unknown, but also a sort of benevolent all-knowing mother like creature that takes you into the journey of your soul...

A painting I had unfinished that I finished today.
I originally made it for my kitchen but the space was too narrow for it at the end.

So....happy for it to go to another kitchen to inspire another "lady of the house" to keep true to the dreams of her heart.

The magic tree

A magical tree, full of mystery and power is one of my most treasured  inner images. 

My trees and my characters are always changing but the story is still there.

I also have musical pieces of magical woods and trees, of doors in trees and of children or maids secretely communicating with old and wise  trees.

This time I had fun with my new tablet and lost myself in unusual colors that speak magic and wonder...

Picking flowers

The 15th of August was my birthday and one of my presents was a graphic tablet to draw digitally.

I've never really considered this "medium" because it seemed unnatural to me, as I just LOVE to get dirty in colors, playing with every sort of media always following the inspiration of the day.

Yesterday I tried to learn to use the tablet, looking up instead of on my paper, trying to experiment with lines and colors and I had great fun. The feel is still of creating something inexisting because I don't have a canvas, a piece of paper , a board of wood...but I discovered that this kind of illustration has a life and a character of its own and a whimsical spirit that I like. I only miss the material side and I would like this immediatly printed to "have it"and "own it"....
Here are two framed versions, I liked them both so I called them n.1 and n. 2.
